Welcome to BRICS YSF!

The BRICS Young Scientists Forum has created a network to harness knowledge for solving common societal challenges through research and innovation. Research and development in the field of Science, Engineering, and other allied disciplines received a substantial fillip as the BRICS Young Scientists Forum created a pool of creative youth in Science & Technology. Accelerating both individual and collective change, the conclave built BRICS leadership (BRICS Youth Alumni) and reinforced its regional STI policies, young skill development and entrepreneurship.

The BRICS Young Scientists Forum hosted by India (26-30 September 2016), provided an opportunity to engage and network young scientists of BRICS countries. Initiated at the Second BRICS Science, Technology and Innovation Ministerial Meeting at Brasilia (18 March 2015), the BRICS Young Scientist Forum aims at BRICS Youth connectivity.

Since the first BRICS Young Scientists Forum, there have been annual meetings across the BRICS countries. The last one was held in South Africa in 2023.

In 2018, a new initiative was added to the above—the BRICS Young Innovator Prize. The BRICS-YIP aims to recognize young entrepreneurs/researchers with outstanding innovations that make an immense societal contribution.

In 2024, Russia hosted the 9th Young Scientists Forum in Sochi from 25-29 November. The Forum also included the 7th Young Innovator Prize.

In 2025, Brazil is hosting the 10th Young Scientists Forum in Brasilia from 15-17 September 2025, and is also hosting the 8th Young Innovator Prize.
